Ashlands First School Year 1 to 2 children visited the museum recently. They were learning about Victorian toys and had a lovely time playing with hoops, bagatelle, skittles and lots more. They also dressed in Victorian costume and looked at photographs of Crewkerne during that period

Why not visit the museum to see some of the stories about Victorian Crewkerne?

The museum now has a lending library, situated on the landing, of local material. This is available to the public at no cost and visitors are asked to record loans. Much of the material for the library was donated by the Andrew family. In recognition of the work carried out towards the success of the museum by Simon and Sylvia Andrew, the meeting room has now been renamed the Andrew Room.

100 CLUB

The 100 Club is proving to be a successful way of replacing our lack of grant support.  This year we have raised £1200 for funds.

If you would like to support the Museum and Heritage Centre in this simple way please fill in the form on the link below and include a cheque for £24 to buy your number and a chance at each monthly draw for the year.

The monthly Coffee morning (1st Saturday of each month), is a happy occasion with regulars and newcomers all welcome.  The cake stall is always popular and we have other events during the year.

THE MUSEUM SHOP - We stock a good range gifts, books about Crewkerne and the local are as well as Crewkerne souvenirs. Why not come along and see for yourself?

You will be very welcome!

The Museum

The strength of our centre is the volunteers who involve themselves in the wide range of activities. From cleaning to collection, gardening to group visits, special events to spectacular exhibitions there is something to suit most people of all ages at Crewkerne & District Museum and Heritage Centre,

Thanks to all the supporters of the Crewkerne & District Heritage Centre 100 Club we have raised over £1200 for funds this year, and made many members happy with their monthly prizes!

Now is the time to consider joining the 100 Club for the next year December 2016 - November 2017.. A number costs £24 which gives the owner entry to each monthly draw. There are three bigger prize draws in December, April and August and the other months give out at least 6 prizes. Half of the income goes to support the Heritage Centre which houses the museum, research facilities and meeting room.

The Friends organise a monthly Coffee morning on the first Saturday of each month when the draw is made. This is also a social occasion open to all when cakes may be bought and other special events held. Grant funding continues to fall from South Somerset District Council so we need to increase the funds to maintain the service that we have always given.
So, if you wish to support the centre, this is a simple way to do so. Forms are available at the museum or can be downloaded from this site.
